New U.S. Secretary of State: Our goal is to end the war in Ukraine in a way that prevents its recurrence.

The new U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, stated that the Donald Trump administration aims not only to bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war but also to prevent its recurrence in the next 2 to 4 years.

He stated this during the CBS Mornings program.

Rubio assured that ending the war in Ukraine would be a priority for U.S. foreign policy. According to him, this war has turned into a "deadlock" and has reached a state of "hopelessness".

“The prolonged bloody conflict has been incredibly destructive for both Russia and Ukraine. However, Ukraine is paying the highest price with its energy infrastructure, its people, and the millions of Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their country,” emphasized the new Secretary of State.

It is worth noting that the previous day, the American Senate unanimously voted to confirm the nomination of Marco Rubio, who was nominated by President Donald Trump for the position of Secretary of State in his administration.

Even before his confirmation, he stated that it was unrealistic to believe that Ukraine could expel Russian troops from its territory. Therefore, Kyiv, he suggested, would have to make concessions, just as Moscow would.

Earlier, the special envoy of the elected U.S. President for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, stated that he aims to find a resolution regarding the war within 100 days after Trump's inauguration.

Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that during any potential negotiations with Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin will insist that Ukraine become a neutral state and that the occupied territories remain with Russia.
