On the night of March 2, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using 79 strike drones of the Shahed type and various types of imitation drones. Ukrainian military forces managed to shoot down 63 aerial targets.
This information was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The occupiers launched the drones from Russian territories: Oryol, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
The air assault was repelled by anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 08:30, the downing of 63 “Shahed” drones and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles has been confirmed in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions.
Additionally, 16 imitation drones were location-lost (without negative consequences).
Earlier in the evening, Russians struck an apartment building in Zaporizhia. A fire broke out, and a 31-year-old woman was injured, reported the head of the Zaporizhia Regional State Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
According to data from the Sumy Regional State Administration, one explosion occurred in the Sumy community due to the drone attack. Ten private properties and four civilian vehicles were damaged there.
In Aleksandrovka, Kharkiv region, debris from the UAV severed a high-voltage line. Restoration work is ongoing, they say in the Regional State Administration.
Khmelnytskyi region was also affected by the Russian attack.
