The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) published its reaction on the agency's social media platforms.
The MIA noted that an unscheduled internal investigation of the department has been initiated and they have contacted the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NAPC) with a request to conduct a "thorough monitoring" of the lifestyle of the employees mentioned in the journalists' report.
They added that inspections will take place across all separate structural units of the Main Service Center.
Additionally, the MIA has established a working group to improve service offerings, primarily to address issues with the electronic queue. The group is led by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Leonid Timchenko.
On December 4, journalists from Bihus.Info published a report claiming that there are failures in the operations and undeclared assets of employees at the Main Service Center of the MIA in Kyiv.
In particular, the journalists stated that citizens have to spend the night outside the center to obtain a ticket for a practical exam. Bihus.Info mentioned that in 2023, the National Police investigated a case where the head of the center, along with several administrators, artificially created a shortage of tickets, which were then sold through intermediaries for 3,000 to 4,000 hryvnias.
Furthermore, the journalists observed that some employees of this service center drive expensive cars that are not listed in their declarations or are declared under relatives' names.
