IAEA has rotated its personnel at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, but this was done through territories captured by Russia and without coordination with Ukraine.
This was reported by Radio Free Europe correspondent Ricard Jozwiak and the propaganda agency “RIA Novosti”.
“What seemed impossible just a few days ago has happened. IAEA has placed its personnel at the Zaporizhzhia NPP through territory occupied by Russia without Ukrainian agreement,” Jozwiak stated.
Russian media also confirmed the rotation, citing “Rosatom.” They stated that the route for the rotation of observers was paved for the first time “through the territory of the Russian Federation.”
A few days earlier, Jozwiak mentioned that the rotation would likely occur through Crimea without Ukraine's consent and against the warnings of the EU.
“A bold step by Rafael Grossi, who aims to become the next Secretary-General of the UN,” the journalist added.
Neither the IAEA nor Ukraine has commented on this information so far.
Recall that on February 5, the IAEA was forced to postpone the rotation of its mission at the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP due to a lack of security guarantees from Russia.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry noted that Russia almost always disrupts rotations following the same scenario. Initially, the Russian side delays the agreement on the time and place of rotation, then sends signals of supposed readiness to guarantee passage, but an hour before the rotation begins, they open fire or initiate combat actions in the area.
