Over 7,000 soldiers have returned from Sochi to the army, according to the GRU.

More than 7,000 servicemen who previously deserted their unit have returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations.

As of now, 4,396 military personnel have officially resumed their service, while the process of reinstatement and closure of criminal cases continues for the others.

The SBU states that the number of those returning from the SOCH is increasing every day. Law enforcement officials indicate that military personnel who return to service are reinstated with the benefits and social guarantees established by the state.

It is worth noting that President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged an increase in cases of SOCH among Ukrainian servicemen in 2024. At the same time, he emphasized that such cases have decreased in the fall.

In November, the head of state signed a law regarding voluntary return to service for those who first went to SOCH or deserted.

To be exempt from criminal liability, military personnel needed to arrive at their units or places of service by January 1, 2025. Currently, this deadline has been extended to March 1, 2025.
