This is stated in a message from the agency.
They reported that since November, measures to protect coniferous forests have been tightened in anticipation of the holidays, specifically by forming special groups that include representatives from the State Environmental Inspection, the National Police, and local government bodies.
As a result of these measures, 142 violations were detected: 24 for unauthorized logging, 11 for improper harvesting procedures, and 107 violations at Christmas tree sales locations.
Following these actions, 137 protocols were compiled, of which 97 were forwarded to the judicial authorities, and 40 individuals have already been held administratively liable.
The State Environmental Inspection reminds entrepreneurs involved in the transportation and sale of New Year trees that they must possess a waybill from the forestry, a shipping document, a radiation inspection certificate for the trees, a trading permit with an official stamp, and each tree must have an electronic chip.
Additionally, each tree should have a special tag with a barcode that contains information about the harvesting location, the logger, and its affiliation. This will help determine whether the sale of the tree is legal.
The agency also reminded that illegal logging of coniferous trees is punishable by a fine ranging from 510 to 5100 UAH. Furthermore, illegal logging of green spaces within forested areas entails criminal liability. This could result in fines from 17,000 to 25,500 UAH or imprisonment for up to six months.
