A source in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) informed hromadske about this.
This station is considered one of the key points for oil transportation in Kuban. It supplies the Afipsky and Ilysky oil refineries.
According to the hromadske interlocutor, the SBU drone strike targeted the 110/35/10 kV substation, which powers the oil pumping station.
As a result, the substation caught fire, leading to a complete power outage and an emergency halt of the oil pumping process. Russian authorities are currently assessing the damage.
On February 20, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region confirmed the drone attack in the area, specifically in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban. They reported that after repelling the attack, "debris from the UAV was recorded at six locations." The falling debris was also linked to a fire at the substation near Novovelychkovskaya stanitsa.
"This marks the eighth successful SBU special operation this year targeting the oil refining and pumping capacities of the Russian Federation. Each such 'bang' results in multimillion-dollar losses for Russia and complicates fuel supply for the Russian army," said the hromadske source.
